Astronaut

Transform your farm with the new milestone in milking. The Lely Astronaut is an evolution that incorporates everything we have learned during the past 25 years since we pioneered automatic milking. We took into consideration the needs of cows and our customers to create an enhanced cow- and farmer-friendly milking system.

The hybrid arm combines fast and accurate electrical-driven movements with the softness and the power of air for stress-free milking. The air protects the electrical system by balancing the heavy load of the arm and buffering cow kicks. The hybrid arm is silent, allowing cows to experience more rest during milking.

Cows dislike obstacles, which is why the I-flow concept offers a straight route with unhindered entrance, leading cows to their milking turn with ease. As a result, the threshold for cows to enter the robot will be lower.

A three-layer laser system delivers the most accurate teat position information and stores the data after each milking. The system’s 3D camera helps localise the cow’s position in the box, allowing the brushes and cups to find the teats with ease.

The healthier the udders, the better the milk. This is why the Astronaut is equipped with a unique brush cleaning system that removes encrusted dirt and manure around the teats and the underside of the udders, ultimately stimulating milk let-down. After cleaning the teats, the brushes are thoroughly disinfected to minimise the risk of cross-contamination.

Dodleston Hall Farm, milking 300 pedigree Holstein cows with focus on animal welfrare. They revolutionized their feeding system with the Vector, ensuring fresh feed 24/7.

Product used

Vector

Dodleston Hall Farm, managing 300 pedigree Holstein cows, installed the Vector feeding system in 2024. Previously, feed was only provided once a day and pushed until the night check at 9 PM, remaining untouched until morning. Now, with the Vector, cows receive fresh feed throughout the day and night, with feed being pushed every hour, even on weekends. This system has made feeding much more flexible. Filling the kitchen takes just 20 minutes, and it can hold enough feed for up to three days.

Lely announces new partnerships to offset CO₂ emissions

Maassluis, 14 February 2025 – For the second year in a row, Lely is compensating the CO₂ emissions from its business operations and corporate travel. Following last year’s partnership with Acorn, Lely is now adding two new partners: Klim and Climate Partner. With these additions, Lely is taking further steps in its CO₂ offset program.

Maassluis, 5 November 2024 – Today, Lely announces the appointment of Maartje Bouvy as their new Chief Financial Officer. In her role at Lely, Bouvy will lead the Finance, Legal, PMO & Risk and Tax departments. Bouvy joins Lely per 11 November 2024.
