Meet Jeff McCauley, Nar Nar Goon, Gippsland

Jeff McCauley operates a 76-hectare dairy farm where he milks 400 cows using six Lely Astronaut A5 milking robots. Initially, four robots were installed and began operation on December 3rd. Impressed by their success, Jeff expanded the system by adding two more robots just six weeks later.

Doubling Productivity

Jeff previously relied on a rotary dairy to milk 900 cows, which served as his primary source of income before transitioning to robotic milking. With the introduction of Lely robots, he nearly doubled his herd size and milk production while maintaining the same staffing levels. Despite this significant expansion, Jeff notes that "having the additional cows doesn't create that much more extra work" due to the robots' remarkable efficiency.

Reflecting on his experience, Jeff shared, "I'd definitely recommend getting Lely robots to other farmers because it gives you flexibility in your day-to-day work life, family life, and being able to increase production and profitability going into the future."
