Lely Center Holsworthy

I’ve worked at Lely Center Holsworthy since 2009. I am now in my 15th year with the company; I choose to work for Lely as my wife’s family had six A3 Astronauts fitted while I was working on the farm. I took a real interest in the day-to-day chores on the robots and fixing any faults that I could. This led to me moving across to the Lely Center as an Engineer.

After joining Lely, I progressed from a SL1 to a SL2 service technician before becoming Service Manager in 2012 looking after the team of Engineers throughout Devon & Cornwall.

Lely have a fantastic range of automation, not just the milking robots, but robotic feeders, feed pushers and scrapers, everything they do is about consistency, saving labour and energy.

My favourite Lely product is the Astronaut milking robot, from the information they can produce to the fact that the machine just keeps going 24hrs a day in all conditions still impresses me. Also, the flexibility I see the customers get from installing the machines is great! It leads to a calmer/happier customer and cow.

I joined Lely Center Holsworthy as a Marketing Specialist in January 2021. It's a diverse role, which includes full HR responsibilities for the center, as well as organising staff and customer events and implementing the marketing strategy. I'm happiest when out on farm with our customers and most of you will have seen me on a farm somewhere in our region, notepad and camera in hand! 

Prior to joining Lely Center Holsworthy, I worked as Head of Marketing for a large educational College in Somerset and more recently as the Marketing & Operations Manager at a dairy farm in South Devon.

I have been working for Lely Center Holsworthy since 2014 initially as a SL2 Technician / Service Engineer and more recently I transitioned to Project Coordination. 

Following a recommendation from somebody who worked at Lely, I made the move to the company after 11 years as an Electrical Engineer at Tulip Ltd. The change in jobs has lead me to progress my skills and witness the advancement and cutting edge technology of robotic milking and feed and barn equipment over the years.

The Astronaut is a pretty impressive product, and the Astronaut A5 robot is far more user friendly than previous versions and easier to use for the farmer and for us! 

I joined Lely Center Holsworthy as Farm Management Support (FMS) in 2021. I’m a local Cornish girl and after completing my degree in Animal Science at Reading University, I returned home to be closer to the sea.

Prior to joining Lely, I spent 5 years working for Mole Valley Farmers, where I progressed as a nutritionist in the field working with local dairy farmers as well as gaining experience with customer service and ruminant compound formulating teams. Besides dairy cow rationing, I had CowSignals training as well as gaining a diploma in ruminant nutrition.
