With more than 50,000 robots installed worldwide that are constantly uploading sensor and performance data to the cloud, we are looking for a passionate data specialist to help us gain insights.
The Farm Management Support department (FMS) is dedicated to supporting dairy farmers in all areas related to Lely products and general business management. Data analysis and visualization are essential to support our advisors in providing the information and knowledge necessary for our clients to successfully manage their businesses in line with their goals. Our data specialists provide solid quantitative feedback needed for innovations and monitor key metrics for our new product validations. In addition, FMS contributes to internal and external research where our data is used to gather knowledge to support farmers and advisors in the field.
What does your job entail?
Using data and analytical expertise, you will help tackle practical issues raised by dairy farmers and Lely advisors. You have to talk to them and sympathize with them. Your skills allow you to discover connections, because you can make the connection between practice-related data and theory. In addition, we expect you to use your network within the scientific community to find, stimulate, and support research there as well, in order to develop knowledge that Lely can apply. You then know how to present these findings in an appropriate and reliable manner.
- Your role involves collaboration with other data specialists and analysts (including from external parties) and with colleagues from Farm Management Support around the world, where processes are jointly monitored and information is made accessible via dashboards.
- You analyze interesting data trends and create visualizations and dashboards to help Lely interpret data and make decisions based on facts. In this role, you are able to represent and refine the vision of FMS in the area of data-driven issues.
- In collaboration with colleagues, you formulate relevant research questions. You search within your network for research partners and support their research with data and expertise. You then translate the results within Lely into commercial applications.
- As an expert in your field, you are responsible for developing analysis tools that are tailored to the use by advisors in the field, and you are also responsible for developing training courses on the optimal use of such tools.
Wat is jouw ervaring?
You are familiar with dairy farming and you are interested in gaining in-depth insight into the available data. You are a real connector, good at building relationships (also online) and able to work on a project basis. In addition, you are able to sympathize with the interests of dairy farmers, advisors, technicians, engineers, researchers and product developers, and thanks to your broad data expertise you provide interesting analyzes and process optimization.You have experience and a corresponding network in the world of scientific research Furthermore:
- You have a master’s degree and have proven experience in conducting scientific research.
- You have at least 5 years of experience in a relevant role and a thorough knowledge of programming languages such as Python and programs such as Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio and Tableau.
- You currently live in the Netherlands with a valid work permit and you have excellent oral and written command of English. Command of the Dutch language is a plus.
- You have a data-oriented mindset and are not daunted by the size of the challenge.
- You know how to present yourself and you have good communication skills, courage, charisma and persuasiveness.
- Your stakeholder management skills (both internal and external) are excellent.
